I am thankful for you. I am thankful for your mercy in the moments when I unwisely choose not to have patience with you. I am thankful for your kindness when I get down on my knees with a tear in my eye to say, “I am sorry”… again. I am thankful that you see the good in me. You see God in me. You look past my flaws and imperfections. You never see me as a failure but rather the super hero you dream to be. When I go outside to push you on the swing or throw the football to you in the backyard, your day gets brighter. The simple things bring you joy.
I am thankful for you. I am thankful for the joy and blessing you bring to my life. You bring sunshine and rainbows even on the cloudy days. Though I will never be the perfect mother to you, you are the perfect children for me. Though we are both broken vessels who desperately need Jesus, He has blessed us with the gift we call, FAMILY.
I am thankful that even when I fail, my day has all gone wrong, and my heart is in need of refreshing, you are always there with a smile, a hug, and a simple, “I love you mom.”
I love you too my littles ones.
I am not perfect and neither are you. Though we are all imperfect, He still chooses to bless us. We will fail each other. We will fail our children and our spouses. My children are the ones who see my imperfection in every moment of every day. I live before them with the immense responsibility to point them back to Jesus. I am not very good at doing that some days. Despite my failures, they forgive. He forgives, and I continue to LOVE!
The one who has been forgiven much, loves much (Luke 7:47). I am thankful.
When you mess up and fail your kids (or anyone else), ask them to forgive you. Don’t condemn yourself for your failures. Instead choose to love and be thankful. This is just one reason you and I need Jesus.
Have a happy Thanksgiving and tell those you love, “I am thankful for you.”
